Taormina was born as a tourist town because Sicilians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Saracens chose to stay long and not just for political reasons. The Normans, in particular, defined it a tourist residential area and became, since then, meeting point for conferences, visits and stays.
This town with wonderful beaches, visited by many tourists, who arrive in one of the coastal areas of the most beautiful and famous in the world. Here Taormina Mare with Spisone, Mazzarò, Capo Sant'Andrea and Capo Taormina. Follows large and gentle coves and curves that gently model the coast. Rock, gravel and sand are framed by typical Mediterranean vegetation. In the sea, vibrant crystal blue and dark green, the Isolabella, almost before Mazzarò, lump of rock thickly carpeted with vegetation, geological gem of carved cliffs of incomparable beauty, increases the allure of the coast of Taormina. At Capo St. Andrew beautiful sea caves can be reached by boat.

In the coastal strip from Letojanni in Giardini Naxos you can practice all kinds of water sports. Diving enthusiasts can visit the caves of the coast of Taormina, rich in corals and other under-water living organisms, in the varied lights and shadows of the water world. Of particular interest, the rock of Zi Gennaro, facing Capo of St. Andrew, which is a real show: here the depth does not exceed 10 metres, but further out falls suddenly to 45 meters deep.
