ROTONDA - BASILICATA - SOUTH ITALY
Rotonda, a village in the province of Potenza, on the Mount Pollino slopes, at the borders of Calabria, was built on the ancient Nerulum, a Roman town mentioned by Tito Livio in his Historiae. It's the seat of tha National Park of Pollinoand is almost completely mountainous, caracterized by a number of peaks which are part of the Pollino group. There's plenty of springs and rivers, the most important of which is the Mercure, called Lao in the surroundings of Laino. That's one of the most interesting places not only for its land-scape but mainly for its scientific-naturalistic-paleontological resources, a useful patrimony for each alert visitor's researches.
